Product Description

Split-system beds are becoming more and more popular, as they allow a couple to sleep in the same bed regardless of different requirements and needs. Similar to the proven mental health benefits of staying in your own home, continuing to share a bed with your partner can have a significant impact on persons mental well-beeing.

Split System beds are available in the following sizes

Although being a split-style bed or a traditional European style bed set up the total size of the bed is the same as a regular-sized Queen, King or Super-King bed. This gives you the advantage of being able to use standard-sized top-sheets and duvet covers. Your fitted sheet for the Split-Queen and Split-King, however, are different.

  • Split-Queen adjustable bed (two long small singles)
  • Split-King adjustable bed (two long singles)
  • Split-Super King adjustable bed (two king singles)

Having a split-system allows each user to choose their functions/ Bed set-up, for more information on these, click the below

This means that each bed will have a separate remote control (except for companion beds) allowing you to individually choose your optimal sleeping position. You will also be able to select different mattresses to suit your preferences and requirements, rather than compromising on a mediocre option, that neither of you will be perfectly comfortable on. Because all our mattresses are made to the same height, you don’t have to worry about any height differences in your bed.

The one compromise that you will, however, need to make will be on the bed height. We usually recommend going with the bed height that is lower and adding the hi-lo function if necessary to assist in getting in/out of bed.

 Companion Bed

This bed has no functions, however it looks exactly the same as the beds that already have a function fitted. This is a great way to save some money at the time, but most importantly you will be able to "upgrade" your bed to any of the required functions at a later date. Please click here to find out more about our Companion Beds

Head Lift

The head-lift function is available either on it's own or in combination with any of the below function. If it is added in combination with the leg lift function, we refer to it as a Dual Lift.

The Head Lift function allows you to adjust the headrest of the bed to any angle between 0 and 60 degrees, allowing you to not only find your perfect comfort level for sleeping, reading, eating or watching TV, but it can also greatly assist you in getting in/out of bed. You can find out more details about the Head lift function here

Leg Lift Function

The leg-lift function is usually only requested in conjunction with the Head-Lift function, but can also be fitted on it's own or retro-fitted to any of our adjustable beds. This function lifts your legs from the knee, giving you a knee break. The maximum lift is 270mm.

Dual Lift Function

The Dual Lift Function is what we refer to if a bed has both the Head-Lift function and the Leg-lift function fitted. Most of our customers choose to have the dual-lift function fitted, as this will allow the user to achieve a Zero Gravity position. Taking the string and pressure of your joints. Choose from Dual Lift Only or Hi-Lo Dual Lift Beds.

Hi-Lo Function

The Hi-Lo function is a very versatile feature and like all the functions, it can easily be retro-fitted to any other functions, including companion beds at a later stage. The Hi-Lo function allows the whole bed to lift horizontally by 340mm. This function can be used in a number of different ways.

It is often required as a way to "future proof" a bed if you are applying for any type of government funding. However, most commonly it is used to assist users to get in/out of bed safely and independently.

Sonic Massage

Our sonic massage feature can be added to any of our beds as an optional extra. It features two massage units that are mounted on the bottom of the bed base. You can choose from a range of different massage vibrations. This is a very subtle message function and has been tested and is safe to be used with pacemakers and around other medical devices.

All Motobility adjustable beds come with heavy-duty lockable casters. While you can choose to have regular legs fitted instead of the castors, we recommend going with the castors as the adjustable-beds, especially when equipped with the Hi-Lo function are very heavy and awkward to move without the castors. Thanks to thequality of the castors, you won't have to worry about the beds separating and creating a gap while you are sleeping. If you want to, you can also add an optional freestanding upholstered bed-surround for added style and peace of mind.
