Part 1: Kalbarri & The Kalbarri Sky Walk |
2020 has been a crazy year and while our interstate borders are slowly opening and life is starting to return to normal a definite positive that has come from these crazy times is that Australians have taken a closer look at their own backyard. Western Australia is a fabulous state, and we are so lucky to live in such a huge & diverse state full of natural wonders. Do not let your mobility restrictions hold you back. We have put together a list of amazing holiday destinations within WA. While there is so much to explore in Perth, Mandurah and surrounds, regional WA is also filled with wonders. So get yourself mobile and start exploring! To celebrate Western Australia in all its Glory, we have put together a mini-series of the best accessible holiday destinations in Regional WA this summer. |
The Destination: |
Kalbarri & the Kalbarri Skywalk This is a personal recommendation from one of our customers who has recently visit this beauty. |
The Quick Facts: |
- Around 600km north of Perth (167km north of Geraldton) Located at the mouth of Murchison River - Known for its seaside cliffs, estuary beach, wildlife and Pelicans - Home to the newly opened Kalbarri Skywalk - Accessible by 2-wheel drive |
Enjoy the journey: |
There are many options to stop on the way to make the most out of your trip. Have a break in Lancelin and join a four-wheel-drive adventure in the dunes. If you prefer something more relaxing, plan a stop at Jurien Bay. Jurien Bay is a seaside town with a range of accommodation options, located close to the Pinnacles and can make a relaxing stop on your way north. |
There are a lot of things to see on the drive north. Starting at Cerventees you can check out the Pinnacles and Stromatolites which both feature accessible parts. Jurien Bay is also well worth a visit or an overnight trip, which is a pleasant seaside town. Unfortunately at this time of the year, the Wildflower season is over, but keep it in mind in case you decide to visit at a different season. |
The next big stop is Geraldton, while it’s fairly close to Kalbarri we still recommend a stop or a visit. Geraldton has much to show including the HMAS Sydney II Memorial, St Francis Xavier Cathedral or stop by “The Tin Heads” a speciality Museum dedicated to well, Tins. You could easily spend a few days taking in the sights and exploring the township. |
Motobility Tip: |
Plan your journey, think about where you are going and what you want to be doing. Book your accommodation ahead of time to avoid undue stress and disappointment. Consider your abilities and if you will require any extra help in getting out and about. If you want to “try-out” using a mobility scooter or electric wheelchair for the first time. Give us a call and ask about our hire options. |
The Best Products: |
Pick a portable scooter with suspension OR pneumatic tyres. These will leave enough room in your boot for your luggage. We recommend the SupaScoota SupaLite 4 features above or the Solax Transformer, Solax Charge which comes equipped with rear suspension! |

Do you like to fish? |
Fishability offer a wide range of different fishing experiences including Jetty & Boat fishing in a variety of locations around WA including Perth, Mandurah, Geraldton, Albany and Busselton. Make it the highlight of your tip or add it to your existing trip. |
